Lander College for Women – The Anna Ruth and Mark Hasten School (LCW) provides an educational community unlike any other, a vibrant learning environment focused on educational excellence and personal growth. Jewish learning, professional preparation and a focused educational mission combine to make the LCW experience of incomparable value for the young women who study at its Upper West Side campus.

Graduates from the Lander College for Women are accepted into the most competitive graduate and professional schools. While enrolled at LCW, they form meaningful professional and personal connections that provide links to future opportunities. Having honed their leadership skills as undergraduates, they can be found setting the agenda in Jewish communal life and organizations around the globe.

From its beginnings as the Touro College Women’s Division in 1974, Lander College for Women has developed into a unique institution. Under the leadership of tonight’s honorees the school provides Jewish women with a rigorous academic and Torah environment that produces graduates able to successfully balance religious commitment, professional careers and family obligations.

It is most appropriate that proceeds from tonight’s dinner will be earmarked towards the College’s newly established Sarah Rivkah Lander Chesed Fund designed to provide financial assistance to students in need.

Mrs. Sarah Rivkah Lander zt”l was a woman of valor, strength and compassion. With graciousness and warmth, she was a vital partner in the historic achievements of her husband Dr. Bernard Lander zt”l, Founder and first President of Touro College. The Chesed Fund, established in her name, is a fitting memorial to a woman who devoted her life to helping others.
